About the role:
As an Engineering Manager at Noon, you’ll combine technical leadership with hands-on impact. You’ll actively contribute to system design, development, architecture, code reviews, and feature development while also mentoring engineers, driving execution, and shaping team culture. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who wants to stay technically sharp while amplifying their impact through others. We believe the best engineering leaders stay close to the code and we’re looking for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, stays close to the technical details, and leads by example. You’ll have full autonomy while owning one of our products.
This is a hybrid position based in our central London office, where the core of our tech and product teams is located. You’ll be expected to come join us in person twice a week.
Responsibilities:
Manage highly talented professionals, mainly consisting of backend, frontend, and infrastructure, but not limited to
Scale impact through hiring, shaping the future of the team, and raising the technical bar
Contribute to product strategy, setting team-level OKRs, and tracking progress and accountability
Grow a diverse, highly skilled, and motivated team of engineers
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing
Play a key role in improving and implementing processes and values
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, design, operations, and learning teams
Contribute hands-on code to non-blocking features and technical debt to alleviate team workload when needed
Maintain technical context and aid delivery by picking up lower-urgency tickets, PR reviews and/or data analysis, ensuring the core team remains focused on the critical path
Support the team’s momentum by rolling up your sleeves to handle non-critical path coding tasks, bug fixes, PR reviews, or data analysis
Requirements
2 years of experience as a people manager, with a desire to learn, improve, and jell with the team and successfully lead, manage, and coaching a team in a high-growth tech/product company.
Strong technical skills, architectural knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and experience setting strategic direction.
Hands-on experience with React Native and React Web for Frontend, and Java and Springboot for Backend
A passion for mentoring and supporting the career development of engineers.
Experience building cross-functional teams, including recruiting, promoting, and onboarding
